Hidetaka Yosumi
Character Supervisor & Tech Artist.
Born in Osaka, Japan in 1972, currently lives in Madrid and Tenerife as an independent character technical artist and a consultant for a couple of international projects after he finished Wonder Park (2019) at Ilion Animation Studios as CG Supervisor.
For over 25 years in the CG industry, his main interest has been focused on CG character creation process including modeling, rigging, hair/cloth dynamics simulation, hair grooming and human/animal anatomy. He started his career as an engineer/programmer at Dream Pictures Studios in Tokyo, then moved to SQUARE-ENIX where he worked on Final Fantasy X (2001), Final Fantasy XI (2002) and Kingdom Hearts (2002).
In 2003, he left Japan and moved in London to work on the CG feature animation film Valiant (2005) at Vanguard Animation. He had been 6 years working at Walt Disney Animation Studios for BOLT (2008), where he participated in the Rhino biped/quadruped hybrid rig and the development of the non-blendshape-based facial system. On Tangled (2010), he worked as hair technical director in charge of the entire workflow of Rapunzel’s 22m long hair.
After he finished Wreck it Ralph (2012) where he supervised all characters in the Suger Rush world including the main character Venellope, he set up his new journey to move in Paris to work on Le Petit Prince (2016) and Mune, le gardien de la lune (2016) at Mikros Image as Character Supervisor. His latest work is The Witness from the Netflix’s Death Love and Robots, as Character Supervisor.
